We visited the city of kadoma website

If you know me, you know I don’t just “look” at things—I diagnose them. Since launching the #VisitKadoma initiative, I’ve been obsessed with finding the pulse of this city. So, I did something most people never do: I went through every single page of the City of Kadoma official website.

I know what you’re thinking: “Carl, a council website? Really?” But listen, I was blown away! The transparency, the vision, and the sheer amount of data available are incredible. It’s not just a portal; it’s a roadmap for where we’re going.

Here are 10 things you absolutely need to know about our city, straight from the digital source:

1. 2026 is Our Silver Jubilee Year! 🎊

Did you know Kadoma is celebrating 25 years since attaining City Status in 2000? The website is buzzing with plans for the Silver Jubilee. It’s a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come—from a small mining camp to a dynamic urban hub.

2. A “Smart Service Sanctuary” by 2030 🤖

I love a good vision statement. The Council isn’t just looking at today; they’ve officially committed to becoming a “Smart Service Sanctuary” by 2030. They are looking at smart grids, digital literacy, and tech-driven waste management. We are literally watching a city upgrade its operating system!

3. The $37 Million Hope 💰

The 2026 Budget is live on the site, and it’s a game-changer. At US$37 million, it’s being hailed as one of the most people-centered budgets in years. Over 50% of it is going straight into infrastructure. That means better roads, better water, and better lives.

4. Massive Investment Incentives 📉

This is the one that got my entrepreneurial heart racing: the Mayor announced a 50% reduction in license fees to attract new investors! If you’ve been waiting for a sign to move your business to Kadoma, the website just gave you a half-price invitation.

5. We’re Going Solar (For Our Water!) ☀️

Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword here. The council is prioritizing the solarization of the Blue Ranges Water Treatment Plant. Using Zimbabwe’s 10 months of sunshine to power our water systems? That is the kind of “Diagnosis and Treatment” I can get behind!

6. Kadoma is a Gender Equality Hub ♀️

I was so proud to see that Kadoma is a “Hub Council” in the Gender Links program. We currently hold a Bronze Award for Gender Mainstreaming. The website even features “Stories of Change” from women in the community who are leading the way in local governance.

7. The “Moonlight Campaign” 🌙

The health section of the site is surprisingly proactive. During recent health drives, the city launched the Moonlight Campaign, specifically targeting men in social spaces like nightclubs and beerhalls to provide health education. It’s unconventional, it’s smart, and it meets people where they are.

8. Gold, Cotton, and… Granite? 🏗️

We all know the gold and the cotton, but the website highlights a massive opportunity in Granite and Quarrying. Kadoma is sitting on high-quality stone that could fuel the construction boom across SADC. The “Business Opportunities” section is a goldmine (literally) for value-addition ideas.

9. Empowering the Next Generation 🎤

The Junior Council Annual Debate Competitions are a big deal on the site. I love seeing the city invest in the leadership and public speaking skills of our youth. These aren’t just kids; they are the future administrators of our “Smart City.”

10. Transparency is Just a Click Away 📲

From procurement notices to budget consultation itineraries, the level of detail available is impressive. You can find the direct email for the Public Relations team (pr@kadomacity.org.zw) and even phone numbers for specific department heads. The wall between the citizens and the Town House is coming down!

The Verdict? The City of Kadoma website is more than just a government page; it’s an invitation to participate. Whether you’re a resident wanting to track your ward’s budget or an investor looking for that 50% discount, the information is there.
